Cool Gerber Hunting Knives
Gerber hunting knives have been around for many generations, it’s one of the first choices of most hunters. When you think about hunting you think a man holding a rifle waiting for his prey to come into his sight. Well if you think about it, back in the old times when guns were not yet invented, they only had their hunting knives to go out with. When a hunter goes out for his hunt today, they still have their knife in hand. Today hunting knife is manly used for skinning and gutting the animal.
As a long time hunter I understand the importance of having the right tools to do the job. I have made the mistake of not packing all the right gear when I was heading out for a two week hunting trip, and I paid for it dearly. I also received a lesson in what to have, and what not to have.
I wanted to tell a story of a buddy of mine who thought he was going to be a great white hunter. We went up to Wyoming to look for some big bucks, and while we were scouting it out, we came across some bear tracks. Now if you have never been up in this area hunting, it’s not uncommon to see or come across grizzle bears. Well my buddy thought all he needed was his new Gerber hunting knife to take care of any problems we may come across. Well just a short time later we came up on a grizzle bear, and my buddy won’t admit it but I know he pee his pants because I could smell it, anyhow I told him to stand still, and don’t make a move. I had my sidearm on me, and the number weapon you need for grizzle, pepper spray. As he started to make his way towards us I told him don’t you move, and I empted a 2 litter bottle size of pepper spray on him, at which point it ran off making all kinds of noise. Needless to say he not the great white hunter he thought he was.
