History of Christmas Reindeer

How the reindeer became connected with Christmas is unclear, but it is like this since several centuries. And Reindeer Christmas lights are a nice reminder of this and the stories we all heard our parents telling us about Father Christmas and his reindeer. As we all know, they help him to distribute gifts and presents worldwide during a single night. Lets make their life easier by hanging some reindeer Christmas lights out for them and so to help them to find us. This is the history of christmas reindeer.

Just as a cultural note, Father Christmas is called by many names all over the world and in different countries, such as Saint Nick or Kris Kringle.

One story tells us that Kris was a boy without parents or close relatives in a far away and very cold country. Because of having no family, the people in his village took turns in taking him in for one year each in order to distribute the burden evenly amongst everybody in the village community. At the end of each year Kris would give a hand crafted gift to his foster family, before moving on to the next one.

After some time, he also started to give hand-crafted toys to the other children in the village, always during the Christmas celebrations. To do all this he had a simple sleigh helping him to transport the presents. By now he had made some money and could buy two reindeer for his sleigh which he named Blitzen (Lightening) and Donder (Thunder). These names were given to them because of their great speed. Later on these two reindeer had young, some of them with equally emblematic names such as Dancer and Comet.

The reindeer made sure that every child got its present on time during Christmas night. So decorating your home with reindeer Christmas lights will remind your kids of this and reassure them that the reindeer will come also to them. You can also go for the personalized christmas baubles.
