How to Avoid Excessive Chewing of your Dog
Dogs are animals who love to chew and dig into places. It is important that you understand that this action is normal for them. However you must also know the limitation of this habit to make sure that you can avoid destructive behaviour in dogs. Usually, you can say that it is nearing its limitation once it digs your mother plant pot and chew your favourite sneakers to pieces. Here are some steps on how you can cure or lessen the destructive behaviour in dogs.
Give your pet as many toys as you can so that they will have something to play and will not resort on chewing the things that they can see on the spot. Do not give them toys that will make them more confused on the right things to chew. Like if you will give them an old hat to play on, though you will no longer use them, they might think that it is okay to chew hats. There are toys designed for pets and you can purchase them from your local pet store.
Be organized with your things. Locate them in a place that is out of reach of your pet. Animals usually play with the things that they can see right away and those on their path. Make sure that you will put your beloved sneakers in places that are far from their reach so that they will not be able to chew it and will avoid hassle in your part.
If they are chewing your unlaundered clothes, you have nothing to worry about. It is normal for dogs to chew dirty clothes, blame it on their nose that dictates that it is a good thing. So instead ort replacing your garments regularly, make sure to place it on a hamper that is out of reach.
Reprimand them and not shout at them right away. Make sure that you caught them on the spot if you will reprimand them and if done right they will be able to remember that chewing those things is bad.
