How To Choose Vanity Lights
Choosing bathroom vanity lights is something that many people jump too quickly into without doing the necessary thinking and planning beforehand. It’s not that it is tough to figure out, but people buy the first one that they see that catches their eye, without considering the shape, size, color, and design of the bathroom. In this post I want to share some tips on how to figure all of this out so that you can have the vanity lights that fit your bathroom perfectly.
The size of the room will determine what bathroom light fixtures you choose. Big bathroom need more light than smaller ones, which might mean more fixtures or more lights on the vanity. Sometimes you can get away with putting stronger bulbs in the fixtures, but many times the light becomes very harsh. Large bathrooms that are more than just a rectangle will definitely need another fixture. This is common when the toilet or shower is tucked off into a corner off of the main bathroom.
The color of the bathroom is important because light colors will reflect light (less bulbs/fixtures needed) and dark colors absorb light. Out of everything in the bathroom, the two things that affect this the most are the counter top and the shower curtain. Light colored counters effectively reflect light back up from the vanity light. This is extremely important in this area because the reflection creates balanced light on the face when putting on makeup and showering. Dark shower curtains suck good light out of a room.
The style of the bathroom isn’t always evident at first, many people just think that a bathroom doesn’t have a style – it’s just for business. In reality it should feel like an extension of the rest of your home. Determining your bathroom’s style can be done by just carrying whatever style the rest of your home is.
Following these simple tips will make sure that the vanity lights that you choose for your bathroom will be the perfect fit.
