Pointers on Grilling

You have already read various cast iron hibachi reviews and you have decided what hibachi to get. You have gone to the store and purchased your very own cast iron hibachi grill. You are all excited about grilling now and have so many plans in your head. You have already invited the whole gang and you have lots of cold beverage ready in your refrigerator. What more do you need?

For meat which is thin and small like those used on kebabs and burgers, they need to be cooked in hot temperature quickly. You have to be very watchful when cooking food items like these because they easily get burned and overcooked. How do you know if it is the correct time to place the meat on the grill? How do you know if the grill is hot enough?

Here is a little trick. Carefully hold your hand down just above the grates and start counting. If it takes 5 seconds before you move your hand away because of the heat, it is low, if it takes 4 seconds, it is medium hot, if it takes 3 seconds, it is medium high, if it takes 2 seconds, it is high and if it takes a second, that means it is very, very hot.

You have to remember to always flip the food to the other side. You do not want to end up eating a piece of steak which is cooked on one side and raw on the other. You will want to flip your food occasionally. You also do not want flare ups so remember to flip your food and move it.

Hot and fast cooking is not always the way to go. This largely depends on the kinds of food you are cooking. For instance, when cooking vegetables, fish, chicken and fruits, you should use low temperature. Use only medium heat for these foods.
