Small Bathtubs Offering Convenience to the Handicapped

If one is handicapped and bathing is becoming increasingly difficult, a small bathtub can significantly alleviate the inconvenience. Small tubs not only help save bathroom space and money, but they also offer numerous benefits especially to the handicapped.

Modern technology has enabled bath tub manufacturers to create small bathtubs with a lot of added features. This is one way of sizing up to its bigger counterpart, which is often believed to offer more comfort than the smaller tubs. But this has been proven wrong as a small bathtub is also capable of providing a soothing and relaxing bathing experience much like that of the conventional bathtub. With a smaller bath tub, one can still submerge his or her body into the water up to the neck. The only difference is on how one needs to position himself/herself while soaking inside the tub. Obviously, one cannot soak horizontally within a small tub. Rather, a person needs to recline or sit down to allow the whole body to be fully soaked in the water.

The smaller type of bathtubs comes in different designs and shapes. Most of them have built-in seats or benches and many other useful features that have been purposely added to provide a more comfortable and relaxing bathing time.
One type of small bathtub which is usually loaded with extra functions is the walk-in bathtub. This is perhaps the most convenient type of tub especially for the physically challenged. Getting in and out of the tub is made simple through a sliding or swinging side door, which is water-tight.
A walk-in bathtub is designed with safety and convenience as its primary focus which allows for a carefree and more enjoyable bathing. In fact, these handicapped bathtubs are gaining more popularity among private homes, medical facilities, and even in retirement or nursing homes because of their many advantages.
