What Component is Important in a Computer?

When purchasing a new computer you may be overwhelmed at the many choices you can get with computers. Every company that manufactures a computer seems to build computers with different components than other companies.

Many people know about processors, memory, and hard drives, but some won’t know which component is probably one of the most important when looking a computers.

The processor is the brains of a computer, so it is an important aspect of the computer. While both Intel and AMD seem to have a stranglehold on the CPU market, it doesn’t make a difference to the average user which processor-maker’s chip is in a computer.

The memory is usually listed as well, and it is always shown that more is better. Today you can get computers with different amounts of memory, from 2 GB to 24 GB. Many programs, such as Photoshop, love to run on computers with a lot of memory. Most computers come with a lot of memory, and for the average user, there really isn’t any issues with memory.

Hard drives is where all your data is stored, so it is an important component in your computer. If a hard drive crashes, there is a chance that you can lose some, if not all, of your data. There are many brand name hard drive manufacturers that produce solid, well-made hard drives. Western digital is one that is well known, as well as Seagate. Hard drives from either company should be well made and supported.

Out of all of the components in a computer, probably the most important one is that of the power supply unit (PSU). Not too many computer-selling companies mention the PSU, but it is the most important component. The reason for this is that it powers all the components in your computer, and so it is connected to all the components.

If the PSU doesn’t provide enough power, your computer won’t start, or will freeze during heavy use. If a power spike, or sudden drop in power, occurs from the PSU, then there could be a chance of a component in your system becoming damaged. It is for these reasons that you should ensure that you computer includes a good, well-made, power supply unit.
